SUNDAY… DAY OF REST!

Yeah right. Up at 5.30am, leaving the house by 7am to go Jet Skiing in the river with my friends Don, Carlos, Yvonne and Willy. All sounds like a fun filled day, except for one thing the locals forgot to tell us, and that was that as you go up the river its infested with crocodiles.

Yvonne and I took out one of the Jet Ski’s together, up the river that was a good 100 meters wide, with mangroves either side, dodging floating logs and debris. (sometimes you just blank out the obvious as you do things to try and tell you that your not in danger) As Yvonne and I flew up the river we came across two quite big logs floating, and as we went in between them we realized that it was in fact two 6-7 foot crocodiles. As we got closer (or speed past them) they ducked down out of site. Yvonne and I didn’t say anything to each other, except that maybe we should slow down, turn around and head back. About half the way back both of us started howling with nervous laughter as we acknowledged to each other that we had seen the crocs, and that tobogganing behind the jet ski was now defiantly out of the picture! Being 10am we decided that we were in much need of a stiff Shirley temple, and upon arriving back at the dock the boys said that they had never seen two women get off a jet ski, get dressed and head to the bar so quickly.

And THAT was the end of me wanting to go jet skiing in the river!
